Homes for Homes created by The Big Issue, is dedicated to eradicating homelessness across Australia by generating sustainable funding through property transactions.
Every time a registered property is sold, a voluntary donation of 0.1% of the sale price is contributed to a fund aimed at increasing social and affordable housing. With a bold target to raise up to $1 billion in the next 30 years, Homes for Homes is set to transform lives by creating housing solutions for those experiencing homelessness and marginalisation, including over 44,000 children currently facing homelessness.
This initiative transcends the individual, calling on the collective power of over nine million homeowners, as well as the commercial sector, to make a tax-deductible donation at the point of sale, lease, or even through rent. These funds are kept within local communities and are granted to reputable housing providers through a rigorous, transparent tender process.
This model not only fosters community involvement but also supports economic growth by creating jobs and reducing the public costs associated with homelessness.
By participating in Homes for Homes, Australians have a unique opportunity to contribute to a legacy of change, ensuring that everyone has the security and dignity of a place to call home. This initiative is more than just about providing a roof over heads; it’s about breaking the cycle of poverty, enhancing well-being, and building a society that uplifts its most vulnerable.
Join us in making a commitment that promises a better future for all, proving that together, we can end homelessness.
