The Village Co. is a not for profit organisation supporting South Australian new mothers who are experiencing vulnerability, primarily due to domestic and family violence, homelessness and poverty.
The Village Co aims to embrace and nurture women as they begin the life-changing and often challenging journey of motherhood. Ensuring new mothers and families know they are not alone is vitally important.
The Village Co provides practical support by providing items for both mother and baby such as nappies, wipes, baby clothes, breast pads, deodorant, sanitary pads, shampoo, conditioner and more.
The care packs provided allow mothers to address the hygiene needs of their precious newborn and themselves, which they may not be able to do without the support of the Village Co.
The care packs we pack and distribute also give women access to a week's worth of pre-prepared frozen meals (collaboration with Chefs on Wheels) and child car seat restraint fitting and checking (collaboration with KidsafeSA).
The Village Co work directly with midwives and social workers to identify the women who are most in need of the care and support provided by our programs. The Village Co. care packs are distributed amongst carefully chosen services across South Australia who support and care for women and families in need.
The services of The Village Co are vital. It is not uncommon for new mothers who are discharged from hospital to not have any supplies for both themselves and their newborn baby. Often, funds are very limited and families are yet to receive parenting payments and support from other services. The support of The Village Co Care Pack allows the mother to have the essential items she needs as well as her baby.
The Village Co. believes families are the cornerstone of our community. Without supported, nurtured and healthy parents, it is very hard to raise supported, nurtured and healthy children.
